Scriptures for Healing and Deliverance – Two scriptures for healing and deliverance are Isaiah 53:4-5. In this post, I’ll be walking you through how these scriptures for healing and deliverance apply to you and how you can apply them to your life and claim your healing and deliverance.
First, the word surely is the first point of call in the scripture above. What does it mean? It means to certainly. It means without any doubt… The word surely is the description used to paint a picture of reality, or how real your healing and deliverance are important to God. Also, it is a mirror to show what God has already done for you to make sure you are healed and delivered from every infirmity or bondage.
So, what God is saying first about your healing is sure. You’ve to both know this and believe this. To not know it and not agree with it is automatically choosing to be in bondage and under the superscription of sickness.
“ Surely he hath borne our griefs…”
Now, what is the first thing he surely did? He has borne our griefs. I.e your griefs and my griefs. Who is this ‘He’ we are referring to here? It is none other than the Lord Jesus Christ. He has borne all our griefs. Not some, or small, but all. What does this mean in practice?
What this means is that anyone that is sick or under bondage, is subject first to grief. And for him to bear it, means he carried it upon himself. Instead of you and myself knowing grief, he has borne it. This scripture for healing and deliverance has not said ‘he will bear our griefs’ No! This verse is showing us that he has borne it. There are so many things that grieve a man. Being under sickness or bondage is great grief. It comes with a lot of pain.
Sometimes, physical pain, emotional pain, psychological pain and what have you. All of these griefs, he has borne it. You shouldn’t be grieved by any sickness, addiction, or bondage! He already carried all of those griefs, that could be caused by sin, curses, or whatnot…. He carried all with him to the cross of Calvary and nailed them on the cross. Thus, why should you not be grieved, because he has borne it all on himself?
Also, the second thing he has done successfully is the matter of sorrow. Surely he has carried your sorrow and my sorrow, When you are sick or under the bondage of that spirit, you are subjected to having sorrows as part of being under the cruel bondage. The good thing is, however, he has carried all the sorrows caused by these things. Thus, you aren’t meant to be full of sorrows. It should be joy and gladness. To be down with sickness is a sorrowful thing.
What God is holding out instead? He, the man who was bearing the griefs and sorrows. If you can have the one who bore these things surely, you’d be free indeed. for Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted.

Again, another thing you’d notice here that was surely done, is that Jesus was stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God so that you can know healing and deliverance. To strike him was one of the sacrifices Jesus paid to have you healed and delivered. He was struck using human hands. Those wicked Roman soldiers struck him. God was at work on Jesus to be healed instead of you.
Normally, you and I should be the ones stricken, but God’s love for you and I made him send Jesus to fulfill this for you and me Also, was not just stricken. God smote him. He was smitten because of you so that you’d be free from all sorts of sickness. God smote him with your sickness and your bondage so that you’d be free! You must believe God here seeing these scriptures for healing and deliverance
As if that were not enough, God afflicted him with your sickness and bondage on the cross of Calvary. For hours he endured all the affliction that you should be free from sickness and bondage. This is what the scripture is saying concerning your healing!
Why These Scriptures For Healing And Deliverance Are Very Important
“But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes, we are healed.”
By these few lines, many who were once sick and under the bondage of spirits have known freedom. Even though he was stricken, smitten, and afflicted for your sake, that wasn’t all Jesus went through to see that you get your healing and deliverance from bondage. 1. He was wounded for our transgression
What this means is that he took wounds because of your sin. On the cross, he was given a crown of thorns to wear. Normally you are supposed to be wearing a crown made out of thorns to make your life more miserable with sickness and bondage… because of the nature of sin every man is born with, but Jesus decided to take that for you too.
Also, as if that wasn’t enough, he was stabbed on his right side on the cross. Now I want you to imagine that you are sick and someone comes to stab you on your right side with a big rugged spear. Will you ever be healed from that, or your case become one needing special emergency treatment in the ICU department of a hospital? Of course, you know the answer.
Jesus took those wounds, because of your transgression, so that you can be healed and delivered from whatever bondage.
2. He was bruised for our iniquities
Also, Jesus was bruised for your iniquities so that you can be healed and delivered. Now, a person possessed by demons is likely to be bruised and thrown around like the son of the man seeking prayer for deliverance. However, such bruising would be counted as wounds gotten from being possessed by demons, not wounds caused by iniquities.
What this means is that anyone that commits iniquity, deserves to be bruised. Now, iniquity is a sin that is committed in the heart. It may not be practicalized outwardly but is done actively inside the heart. While transgression is a sin that is carried out but first springing from the mind, Iniquity is a sin that is only domiciled in the heart.
And a transgressor should be wounded with death. Same thing as someone who commits iniquity. He or she should be bruised with sickness, bondage and even death. But, Jesus was bruised so that you’d no longer be a slave to iniquity, to do it and be bruised. But that by his bruising of the cross for your sake, you’d be made free from iniquity, sickness, bondage and what have you.
3. The chastisement of our peace was upon him
This is the truth that will set you free, only if you believe. Jesus was chastised, punished, and dealt with so you shouldn’t just have healing and deliverance, but, peace. What is healing and deliverance without peace? You can go to fetish people and they can work temporary healing for you or temporary deliverance.
They’d use evil spirits to chase out another evil spirit, robbing Peter to pay Paul. It is only a matter of time before you are back to where you started from and even worse. True peace only comes from Jesus. He doesn’t just give healing and deliverance, he gives peace, because of the finished works of Calvary.
4. With his Stripes we are healed
This is the icing on the cake. With his stripes, you are healed. Another version put it thus “By his stripes you have been healed.” it is not that with his stripes you’d be healed. Or by his stripes, you can be healed. No! This is something that has already been done. It is finished work already. You are healed, by the stripes he received.
His blood and water, shed for you on Calvary provide healing. You are healed, only believe it. And take a step of faith. You are freed from your bondage, cured from your bondage by His stripes. So you mustn’t just believe, you must take action.
